Merril Hope Brown came to Robert College in 1998 as music and art teacher after many years teaching in High Schools in Greater London, UK. Teaching both subjects to all levels, she was Arts Department Head at RC from 2006 until retiring in 2020. Founder and director of Robert College's bi-annual Lise Live concert since 1999, she also ran the Fine Art studio club, and for more than fifteen years chaperoned many RC student delegations to international Model United Nations conferences both at home and abroad. Since retirement she has mostly lived by the Aegean sea in Turkey, except when she goes home to London or comes back to Istanbul. She continues to fill her time with music and Art - and walking by the sea. She has also been known to write poetry, watch Rugby and share her very British sense of humor and is usually surrounded by cats.
