Making Films: Art & Craft
The aim of this course is to introduce the art of visual storytelling to the new generation, while giving them a chance to actively take responsibilities in the classroom to use their talents to create their own short films. Filmmaking requires involvement, and active participation will be essential for this course. Students will have a chance to use their English not only for conversation and assignments, but also for creative purposes.
The course follows a two-fold approach: We will watch and analyze some historically important films that paved the way for other filmmakers. The techniques we learn from these films will, then, be used by students as they make their own films.
No prior information in films is required. No specific camera equipment is required. Any smartphone with video recording capabilities will do. After all, the best camera is the one that is with you.
