The Outdoor Leadership Training program is designed to create an awareness among the participants, who could use newly learned skills both in their academic and personal lives. This custom training program was designed to be an entry-level course about outdoor leadership.
This program not only addresses the technical skills of various outdoor activities, but students also learn safety, organizational, environmental, instructional, group management and problem solving skills. Since these skills are necessary for every leader, a mandatory training program was developed to teach these skills.
We do focus on experiential education, it is widely accepted that it consists of an action-reflection cycle. The way in which this cycle is executed determines the effectiveness of experiential education.
We organize our program in three separate categories, each with their own topics and progressions.
- Outdoor skills. Outdoor living, technical, rescue, medical, and site management skills required for safety.
- Human skills. The presence, interpersonal, coaching, and counseling skills required for effective human interaction & teaching.
- Educational skills. Functional understanding of activity structure, progression, and basic outdoor education strategies along with the ability to design and manage safe activities.
