In this introductory course the participants will explore the fundamental techniques of ceramics and printmaking, use the elements of art and principles of design, and create 2D and 3D artworks.
In ceramics sessions, the students will learn pinching, coil, and slab methods and the sgraffito technique. Each participant will make pinch-pots, mugs, bowls, saucers, create masks or relief animals, and design accessories. All creations will be fired, glazed and re-fired!
In printmaking sessions, they will learn to carve linoleum, print single and multi-color images on paper and on cloth bags in which they can carry their artworks home at the end of the course!
The course is suited for both students who have never worked with these media and are willing to give it a try and enjoy learning by making, and for students who are already killing it in art and are intending to spice their portfolios up for future college applications by improving or enriching their art making skills.
